Habib Hassan was talented in business during 1920s and more than half of Johor Bahru’s trade stores and shops belonged to him.

Not only dedicated to business, Habib Hassan also contributed part of his assets to establishing and promoting Islamic education as well as public welfare. In 1913, the first Islamic College and University was built with Arabic as the main medium of communication on campus. Subsequently, thousands of College and University graduates contributed to the promotion of Islamic doctrine.
