JALAN DUKE

Jalan Duke was named after the Duke of Edinburgh, brother to King Edward VII. When the English monarchy visited Johor Bahru in 1907, a festival was held to welcome the English dignitaries. There was an unprecedented wrestling match between a buffalo and a tiger, making it the first and also the last animal wrestling event held in Johor.
