SALAHUDDIN BAKERY

Sensational old-school cakes and pastries are the specialty of Salahuddin Bakery. Today, it’s a family-run business into its fourth generation since its establishment in 1937. The founder, Shariff Mohamed Mahku started the bakery 12 years after he arrived from New Delhi, India. It was his dream to own a bakery ever since he arrived Malaysia in 1925 where he worked as a baker. Before he owned a bakery, he sold his goods in a small stall and whoever bought his sugee biscuits would get a free cup of tea. The family is Indian Muslim but their customers come from Malay, Chinese, Indian and Eurasian backgrounds. Skilled bakers, they have baked cakes, pastries and breads the old-fashioned way by using an 80-year old wood-fired oven.
